Canadian 23-year-old professional player Jonathan Duhamel won the 2010 World Series of Poker. The player received a fantastic pot of $8.94 million after he outplayed John Racener in the final showdown on Monday night in Las Vegas.
Once he secured the pot and became the first Canadian poker player to win the WSOP championship, Duhamel told the press it was a dream come true “It is like the most beautiful day of his life, the happy player said”. He also asked the group of about 200 friends and members of his family who were there at the casino to join the party.
“I love playing poker so much, so I mean I'm going to be playing all those big tournaments and try to make other big scores,” he told the press. “I'll be there next year in the World Series and try to do my best again.” He now plans to play in all the most important poker tournaments in the world.
The so called November Nine of the WSOP championship met again on Saturday after a break that started on July when the final table was decided. US player John Racener won the second place prize of $5.5 million in a year in which the WSOP tournament made history becoming the second largest event in the tournament’s 40-year history, with 7,319 poker players.
