Record field for the WPT Borgata

With a field of 1,042 poker players, the Borgata Poker Open in Atlantic City set a new record for attendance to a World Poker Tour event. Last year, 1,018 players registered in the popular $3,500 buy-in poker tournament, which means this year attendance increased 2%.

For day 1A, more than 300 players sat at the tables to show their poker skills and on day 1B 750 showed up to try to make it to day 2 in the poker competition. Vincenzo Abate ended the round as chip leader with 201,450 and the second position is held by Jeremy Maher with a total of 176,875. Day two of the WPT Borgata Poker Open will see 641 players who still remain in the game.

One of the 2009 World Series of Poker November Nine is playing the poker tournament: Eric Buchman. He starred one of the most exciting free poker games of the night when he went all-in with Q-6 of hearts and a board of A-K-10-2. Another poker player called holding A-9 of clubs and Buchanan got his jackpot when another heart filled his flush. He ended the first day of the tournament with 76,700.

Day two will start this Monday and besides Abate and Maher other poker players will seat at the poker tables again, including Adel Jo, Jeff Papola, Giuseppe Pantaleo, Marc Lome, Jacobo Fernandez, Anthony Licastro, Dajuan Whorley and Ruslan Dykshteyn. It will be an exciting day for the World Poker Tour.
